Road trip

Lately I’ve spent a lot of hours watching mountains, deserts, trucks, and fence posts go by, like in this mirror-shot from somewhere near the California-Nevada border.

Jon and I drove from Georgia to California a few weeks ago to help my siblings deal with the stuff our late mom left to us.  It was a bittersweet time as we sorted through things and decided what to keep, what to put in the estate sale, and what to toss.  Two weeks’ worth of work plus the road trip on both ends added up to three weeks.

It was a great trip.  I spent time with family and old friends, made some new friends, and fell in love with California and Californians all over again.  But I’m glad to be home.
