2012 Carol nominations
This is the tidy side of my office as it was just after I sent my third novel to my editor. This is scrupulously neat, compared to the messy side.
So, the third novel is in my editor’s hands, and my first one, When Sparrows Fall, has just been named as a finalist for the 2012 Carol award in the women’s fiction category. (Yay!)
The Carol Awards are named in honor of the gracious and lovely Carol Johnson, a pioneer in publishing Christian fiction. I’m very honored to be in the running for an award with her name on it. The winners will be announced in September at the American Christian Fiction Writers conference in Dallas.
Meanwhile, my second novel, A Stillness of Chimes, will come out on February 19. It’s already listed for pre-orders on CBD and Amazon. Notice the two sites show two different covers. We still don’t have a final decision on which cover art we’ll use. Which cover do you like best?
If you’re not already signed up for my sporadic but utterly sincere e-newsletter, you can sign up on my website. In the next issue I’ll answer some questions from readers, so I would love it if you would send me some questions here in the comments. Everyone who leaves a comment and/or question by next Monday, July 23, will be eligible for a drawing for a free copy of either When Sparrows Fall or A Stillness of Chimes once it’s available. If you’re not the commenting type, you can email me at the address on the website and still be entered in the drawing.
And now I’m off to celebrate the Carol nomination with a fresh pot of coffee. The office floor can continue being messy without any more help from me.
If you like this post, please share it.

Congratulations on the Carol nomination! When I read “When Sparrows Fall” I gave it 5 stars on my personal reading list. It is a wonderful book!!! Can’t wait to read your #2!
Thanks, Grace! I’m so glad you enjoyed “When Sparrows Fall.” I love it when I can make my readers happy.
I’ll put your name in the hat for the drawing for “A Stillness of Chimes.”
Oh, and I just realized I didn’t set a time limit for entering the drawing. Let’s say midnight, next Monday 7/23. Of course, comments and questions are welcome past that time too, but they won’t be eligible for the drawing.
Oh, and let’s make it midnight Eastern time! Because I don’t intend to stay up until midnight Pacific time to pick a winner.
Hi Margaret, I saw you were nominated for the Carol Award. I just want to congratulate you. I am Carolyn Davis Reese and I remember you from school. I am excited to read your book!
Carolyn, of course I remember you! It was sweet of Willa to mention the book on the PR Facebook page. I have lurked there but I don’t think I’ve ever posted. Do you still live in PR?
Hi Meg! Yeah,I found your “official” blog!!! Looking forward to the release of book #2 AND Congrats on the nomination for the Carol award. Yesp!! :0)
Thanks, Nanci. Yesp indeed!
Hey Meg….I am soooooo very excited bouut your new book…and I love the cover on CBD. The cover has a big part of me choosing a book and I would choose the cbd one over the amazon one in a flash! But that is just my humble opinion!
And I would love to be entered in the drawing…….I have been waiting a looonngg time for this book…..and a third book is even more exciting!
Thank you!

Hi, Joy! It’s wonderful to hear from you. I’ll put your name in the drawing too. Sorry it has been so long between books! Book 3 (still untitled) will come out in August of next year though, so there will only be about a six-month gap between books this time.
Oh…and I am thrilled for you on being a finalist for the Carol award. This is awesome and well deserved. And a win is even more deserved!
Blessings….Joy
Thank you, Joy. I’m thrilled about the Carol nomination too. Susan Meissner and Lisa Wingate are such good writers that my chances of winning are slim to none, but it’s truly an honor to be in the running with them.
Brilliant! Outstanding… I love it! GOD is increasing your circle of influence, spreading the grace of GOD through story. I eagerly await your next submission. I am thrilled & blessed to watch your magnificent journey. May you continue to be flooded with the intense creativity of our FATHER. May HIS grace guide you, HIS wisdom lead you, & HIS magnificent love continue to spill over the pages of your every work showing all your readers the way to the Lap of Grace.
Thank you, Celeste! You’re so sweet. I appreciate your encouragement so much.
I loved ‘When Sparrows Fall’ so much and I’m looking forward to ‘Chimes’ and I’d like even more to win a signed copy! No authors ever come around to my neck of the woods. Thanks for giving your readers a chance to win.
Hi, Susan, and thanks for the kind words! I’ll put your name in.
So proud of you! We are grateful for your friendship throughout the years!
I look forward to your next book!
Sally Jeffery
Thanks, Sally. We’re so grateful for your friendship too, and I hope to see you sometime soon. And…your name is in the drawing.
Hi Meg, Congratulations on the nomination for the Carol Nomination. I can’t wait to read your 2nd novel. My Mom has been reading “When Sparrows Fall”. She loves it and stayed up late reading it one night. She couldn’t put it down. Love you, Margaret.
Thanks, Willa. Please give your mom my love. She’s such a sweetie. Love you too!
What authors do you enjoy reading?
Can’t wait to read one of your books!
Candice, you just asked me one of my favorite questions. I have a weakness for British authors of the 1930s to 1950s or thereabouts. Dorothy L. Sayers and Josephine Tey are at the top of my list. I love variety, though, and I read a lot of different genres. How about you?
Meg…so enjoyed meeting you last night at the Sunrise Book Club. I loved “When Sparrows Fall”. I sure hope there will be a sequel to let us know what happens to Miranda, Abigail and Nicole.
God bless!
I enjoyed meeting you too, Neena. I’m so glad you enjoyed WSF. I’ll try to put a bug in my editor’s ear about a sequel.
It’s midnight, so the drawing is over. I just drew a name at random from everyone who commented here or on Facebook, and the winner of the free book is Nanci Wood Clifford! Nanci, I’ll message you for your address.
